DDP 2022 Journey ( From Launch to Convocation )

 

Recognizing the significance of empowering and enhancing the capabilities of Boards of PSBs/FIs/PSICs, the Financial Services Institutions Bureau, in collaboration with IBA and other stakeholders, introduced the Directors Development Programme (DDP). The programme, inter-alia, derives its roots from the enshrined mandate of the Bureau on the development of suitable training programmes for PSBs/FIs/PSICs. It is a comprehensive programme specifically tailored for directors of PSBs/FIs/PSICs in India.

 

PROGRAMME DETAILS

Delivered by M/s Egon Zehnder in partnership with Harvard Business Publishing, the nine-month programme features a blend of webinars, in-person interactive sessions, and self-paced online modules. Participants also engage in facilitated case studies focused on the latest trends on board effectiveness. The programme offers opportunity for interaction with industry leaders and subject matter experts to create deeper awareness of relevant issues.

DDP comprises of the following modules:

i) Self-Paced Module consists of an online Harvard Business Publishing Portal (15-20 hours of content) wherein the participants will continue to have access to the portal till the end of the program. It covers topics like Basic of Banking/Insurance, Board Basics, Meeting and time management, presentation skills and may other similar themes.

ii) Online Seminar Module consists of live seminars hosted on a weekly basis (equivalent of 4 days)

iii) In-person Interactive Sessions consist of three days of interactive mode of learning where all Directors get together to exchange views and ideas on various subject matters.

The holistic approach of DDP ensures that the directors adapt their organizations to the evolving business landscape and capitalize on new opportunities, thereby serving as a source of wisdom and guidance for various stakeholders. By doing so, they can contribute to raising the performance standards of Indian financial institutions on the global stage.

THE POOL OF PARTICIPANTS

The third batch of the DDP witnessed participation of 53 directors from 12 Public Sector Banks, 6 Financial Institutions and 3 Public Sector Insurers.

PROGRAMME DELIVERY

The third batch was launched in October 2024 and successfully culminated in May 2025. Participants appreciated the thorough coverage and diversity of topics, quality of speakers and overall structure of the program. Case studies and role plays have been highly rated by all participants. Glimpses from the batch are appended.
