An Autonomous Body of Government of India
Leadership Development Program

The Leadership Development Programme (LDP) is a flagship programme curated by FSIB and IBA, and delivered by a knowledge partner. LDP aims to help Public Sector Banks and Financial Institutions in grooming a future generation of digitally savvy, strategic thinkers who have the leadership ability to build highly collaborative teams in order to create a customer centric organization. LDP derives its vision from one of the mandates of the Bureau “To advise the Government on evolving suitable training and development programmes for management personnel in PSBs, FIs and PSIs”.

The sixth batch of the programme, christened “Aarohan 2025”, is being delivered by M/s McKinsey as the knowledge partner.

Programme Details

A brief listing of the courseware is given below:

i) Experiential Forums – cover sessions on leadership skills, functional knowledge and spiritual immersion. The focus of Forum 1 is on “Leading self”, Forum 2 on “Leading others”, and of Forum 3 on “Leading change”. These also include functional topics like trends in banking industry, advanced analytics in banking, risk, digital banking, etc.

During Aarohan 2024, the Forum 2 held at Alpine University, Austria in July 2024, touched upon the art of managing stakeholder networks and building reliability, acceptance and openness as a leader.

ii) Live Business Projects – undertaken by teams of the participating institutions, wherein the teams choose their project goals and the methodology for implementation. This provides participants an opportunity to apply their learnings from the experiential forums in real-life situations. A mentorship panel comprising industry stalwarts guides the participants on the project approach, and offers their observations on project success and individual performance.

Over the years, projects in LDP have encompassed diverse themes like “technology- driven transformation”, “reduction of cost to income ratio”, “digitalization of credit appraisal”, “sustainable project financing”, etc.

iii) One-on-one Coaching sessions help self-reflect, absorb learnings from the experiential forums, and transform mindsets. Insights from these sessions help the participants to prepare Individual Development Plans highlighting their key strengths, competency gaps, and the proposed action plan.

iv) Online Learning module – anywhere, anytime accessible learning solution providing a holistic overview of the course structure, including updates about forums and coaching sessions.

v) Knowledge Nuggets – regular newsletters covering articles across leadership, functional, and spiritual immersion themes with the latest learnings and industry trends.
